An experienced airline executive and former member of Silver Airways’ Board of Directors, David Pflieger has established himself as an industry leader in the area of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Under Dave Pflieger’s guidance, Silver Airways continued to grow its brand in the region. Toward the end of doing so, Dave Pflieger and fellow members of the executive team announced that Silver Airways would begin daily nonstop flights between Central Florida and Charleston.
As of March 19th, travelers could begin to take advantage of the convenient link between Charleston and the Central Florida airports of Tampa and Orlando. As a result, travelers also enjoy access to one-stop service from Charleston to Fort Lauderdale. According to Silver Airways CEO Sam Teittinen, the new nonstop service between Charleston and Central Florida will deliver a key link between South Carolina and many islands in the Bahamas. Tampa International Airport CEO Joe Lopano and Greater Orlando Aviation Authority Executive Director Phil Brown both expressed confidence that the new flight service will be a popular choice for visitors to the Central Florida destinations. A veteran of the flight industry, David (Dave) Pflieger held leadership roles for various airlines servicing tropical regions, such as Fiji and Hawaii. Among his positions, he served as chief executive officer and managing director of Air Pacific Ltd for three years. Under the leadership of Dave Pflieger, Air Pacific introduced its updated brand in 2013 with the reveal of the Airbus A330, the newest addition to the airline’s fleet. Found in more than 100 fleets around the world, the Airbus A330 is a versatile aircraft that supports both short- and long-distance trips. In fact, the model can stay in flight for up to 15 hours and possesses the capability of in-flight refueling and military airlift. The plane, featuring fuel-efficient Rolls-Royce Trent twin engines, is one of the most-used wide-body aircraft in operation to date, with more than 1,100 sold. This is due in large part to its craftsmanship, which results in a 14 percent reduction of fuel usage per seat. Airbus plans to release an enhanced A330 model in 2015, which features increased takeoff weights, allowing airline operators to carry more payload. Additionally, a lower-weight aircraft will be launched in the same family in the near future. Dubbed the A330-300 Regional, the lighter plane will be used in domestic and regional transport for markets such as China. Each plane will accommodate an estimated 400 passengers.
David “Dave” Pflieger is a veteran airline executive who guided Air Pacific, Ltd., in Fiji prior to taking his current position as president with Silver Airways in May 2013. He directs operations of an up-and-coming Florida-based regional carrier that also services numerous destinations throughout the Mid-Atlantic region and the Bahamas. In mid-December 2014, Dave Pflieger’s firm announced an expansion of Bahamas routes to include Tampa-Marsh Harbour, Orlando-North Eleuthera, and Orlando-Freeport. In addition, numerous routes are being resumed or increased in frequency to reflect seasonal spikes in demand.
This increase in Florida-Bahamas connectivity has been described as reflecting a core Silver Airways commitment to prioritizing island destinations. Bahamas’ scenic Out Islands are ideal for family vacations, as well as honeymoons and sailing and fishing excursions. Making long-distance connections to the Bahamas even more convenient are Silver Airways’ numerous interline ticketing partnerships with carriers such as American Airlines and All Nippon Airways. |
